Preventive Maintenance and Upgrades

Motion compensation systems have well-understood wear mechanisms: seal degradation, nitrogen loss, hydraulic fluid contamination, and progressive damping drift. We help customers build maintenance programmes that catch these before they become lift-day problems. Typical interventions include annual inspection, seal replacement every 3–5 years, hydraulic fluid sampling and replacement, and gas recharge as needed.

For products delivered by Norwegian Dynamics we include maintenance documentation from the start. For equipment delivered by others, we can assess the installation and build a programme from scratch.

When specifications change — new classification rules, expanded operational envelopes, new vessel installations — we engineer and deliver upgrades including control systems, instrumentation, damping characteristics, accumulator sizing, or complete hydraulic refits, for equipment from any manufacturer.

Obsolescence and Recertification

Older systems often face component obsolescence — control cards, sensors, or specific hydraulic components that are no longer manufactured. We can source drop-in replacements, engineer alternatives, or support formal recertification by DNV, BV, ABS or CCS.

Honest assessment: sometimes a retrofit is the right answer, sometimes replacement is more economical. We will tell you which. Contact us to discuss maintenance, upgrade, or lifecycle support for your equipment — the first assessment is typically at no cost.
