Cookie notice
The short version
This site sets no advertising cookies and does not profile visitors or build audiences for ads. It uses a small number of cookies needed to make the site work, a page counter that sets no cookie at all, and Google Analytics — which is only loaded if you accept it.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser, usually to remember something between page loads — a language preference, or the fact that a form was already submitted. Some cookies are needed for a site to function; others are optional.
What this site uses
| Name | Purpose | Category | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| pll_language | Remembers which language version of the site you are reading, so links keep you in that language. | Strictly necessary | 365 days |
| wpconsent_preferences | Stores the choice you made in the cookie banner, so you are not asked again on every page. | Strictly necessary | 30 days |
| _wpfuuid | A random identifier our form software gives your browser. It lets us reject automated spam submissions and recognise a returning partial entry. It is not used to track you across other sites. | Strictly necessary | 400 days |
| _ga, _ga_0VMDGNM05K | Google Analytics. Counts visits and tells us which pages and which of our engineering films bring people to the site. | Analytics — only set if you accept | 400 days |
| Security and delivery cookies | Our content-delivery network may set a cookie to distinguish genuine visitors from automated traffic and to keep the site available. | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year |
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and where visitors come
from — in particular whether our engineering films on YouTube bring people here, which nothing else
tells us. It is not loaded until you accept analytics cookies: decline, and the script is
never fetched and no Google cookie is set. Google processes this data in the United States. We do not use
it for advertising, remarketing or audience building.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie, stores no identifier in your browser and
does not follow you to other sites.
Embedded video
Some pages embed engineering films through YouTube’s no-cookie domain. A video only contacts the video
platform once you press play, and doing so is subject to that platform’s own cookie and privacy terms. If
you do not play a video, no request is made.
Your choices
You can accept or reject analytics cookies in the banner shown on your first visit — rejecting is a single click, exactly like accepting, and we have tested that declining really does stop Google Analytics loading. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser, which will bring the banner back.
Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot remember your language or accept a form submission. They are not used to track you.
